Jacob Sheep Page
We breed and sell spotted Jacob sheep mainly as pets or for their wool. Jacob sheep are an extremely hardy, unimproved breed which means:
Jacobs are smaller than some other breeds, making them easy to handle.
Jacobs are generally much hardier than the more commercial breeds and need little care.
Jacobs are much healthier than many more "modern" breeds.
Jacobs have an extremly interesting appearance with their traditional spotted black and white coats. (Their name derives from the Bible where Jacob was told to breed spotted sheep.)
Jacob sheep are generally very smart and can even be trained to some extent. This isn't necessarily a good thing in a farm animal but it does make them suitable for pets.
Jacob ewes are unusual because most of them have fairly prominent horns, some as many as 6, although these are generally soft and may break off with no harm to the animal.
Jacob Rams sport large, impressive horn sets. Our particular flock members mostly have 2 or 4 horns with an occasional 5- or 6-horn individual.
We sell breeders for $100 and pets/meat animals for $50. We offer special deals on "starter" flocks and Pets must be sold in pairs unless you have some other companion animal to keep them company.
Spike (a breeder), Beth, and Highland's Donnybrook (Donny is a Bouvier des Flandres herding/guard dog)
Please note, our Jacobs are black and white, the brown is just at the very tip of the oldest wool and disappears when they are sheared.
BTW, the skin is black and white also.
